Mo Cookies: Waco’s Best Cookies

For legit some of the BEST cookies you can find in Waco, make sure you stop by Mo Cookies. It’s a female-owned black-owned cookie/brownie bakery in Waco serving up homemade cookies prepared in small batches.

Mo Cookies

I have a sweet tooth (no one is surprised…) and desperately wanted a chocolate chip cookie last week. I looked at my running list of “to try in Waco” on my notes app and saw that Mo Cookies was pretty close to me. And I’m so glad I stopped by!

Mo Cookies: A History

This Waco cookie shop was started by Momma Mo, a wife and mother who grew up watching the women in her family make the best desserts you could possibly imagine. After baking thousands of cookies, cakes, and other sweets (and raising 4 sons - we all know that had something to do with the amount of food she churned out in the kitchen!), she decided to share these desserts publicly by opening a storefront in Waco, TX.

Mo Cookies

The cookies at Mo Cookies are made the old fashioned way: handmade in small batches with real butter, eggs, sugar and vanilla. And you can taste the difference!

The Menu At Mo Cookies

The menu is heavy on the cookies (no surprise there) with about 10 options available on any given day. When I walked in and asked for their two most popular options so I could try them, the kind man behind the counter pointed at all 10 and said, “you’re looking at ‘em! We’ve narrowed it down to these.”

So, in an attempt to not eat 10 cookies in one afternoon, I picked the Party Time cookie (sugar cookie packed with golden Oreos, white chocolate chips, and sprinkles) and a Good God cookie (chocolate chips, white chocolate, roasted pecans, oats, cinnamon, and nutmeg.)

The Bakery Experience at Mo Cookies

Mo Cookies is a small counter-service cookie shop. You can just stop by and order a few cookies to bring with you.

It’s a cute place, but small. Don’t plan on dining in here - it’s definitely a takeaway experience.
