These Are The 5 Best Burgers In Waco

Call me a burger connoisseur or just call me a typical American human being who loves nothing more than a big double cheeseburger + steak cut fries and a craft beer on Friday night, but here’s the truth: I have eaten a LOT of burgers. I love exploring the food scene in Waco, so when someone asked me for the best burgers in Waco, I thought, “hmm, I’d better start eating!”

Best Burgers in Waco

I ate and ate and explored all the supposedly “best burgers in Waco,” from Health Camp to Kitok’s to Dubl-R…as well as a few you might not have heard about. And I rounded it all up right here to the best burgers in Waco, Texas. Enjoy!

The Best Burgers In Waco, Texas

1. Café Homestead

Cafe Homestead Burger

The Texas home cooking at Café Homestead offers a lot of “Texas” food on the menu that will vie for your attention, like chicken fried steak and green Chile brisket quesadillas. But I’m here to tell you that you have to try the classic cheeseburger on the menu because it’s one of the best burgers in Waco, hands down.

It’s a classic ⅓ pound cheeseburger on a homemade bun, topped with lettuce, tomato, onion, and pickle, served with a side of fries. No, it’s not revolutionary. It’s just really good.

And that’s because they use pasture raised beef and make all of their hamburger buns in-house. There aren’t many restaurants in Waco that put this much attention into local, high-quality ingredients. That’s why the burger at Café Homestead is forever going to be one of my very favorite burgers in Waco.

2. Dubl-R Old Fashioned Hamburgers

Duble-R Burgers

This is that hole-in-the-wall spot that you’re going to want to try if you’re new to Waco. It’s beloved by locals and well known for their greasy diner burgers and hand cut fries.

These aren’t fancy burgers! But they are predictably good, cooked-to-order on a flat top grill right in front of you, and served with classic fries or onion rings.

3. Dave’s Burger Barn

Dave's Burger Barn

This is another no-frills burger spot in Waco. Sometimes you want to dine out and enjoy a fancy burger, and then other times you just want a classic burger + tots in a diner setting, you know?

Dave’s burgers was opened by a husband-wife team in 2009 with the intention of serving really good food in a clean environment. And they’ve kept that up all these years! The food is really good: 100% all-fresh beef, never frozen, beef patties that are made by hand and cooked to order. (That might seem like a small thing, but these days, that’s a quality burger that’s hard to find!)

And I must mention the Zipper Ripper Challenge, which is kind of Dave’s Burger Barn’s claim to fame: if you eat a giant burger made of 5 burger patties, 5 slices of bacon, 5 pieces of cheese, loaded with veggies and your choice of dressing, a pound of fries, and a drink, and you finish it all, you get it for free and your photo goes on the hall of fame wall and you get a t-shirt. You can’t finish it? You have to pay $42 for the food.

4. Milo All Day

Burger at Milo All Day

Yes, it’s going to be really hard to say no to the Nashville hot fried chicken tacos. After all, this is a southern-inspired restaurant! But if you can order the Mad Burger, I promise you won’t regret it!

It’s a big burger made of legacy beef, topped with caramelized onions and melty American cheese, served on a soft challah bun. Oh, and the fries on the side? *Chef’s kiss*

Milo All Day isn’t just one of the best burgers in Waco - it’s one of the best restaurants in Waco, period. It’s an adorably bright restaurant with live plants and pretty tiles at the bar, and the menu is overflowing with good things to eat like fresh salads, delicious entrees, fun cocktails, and a killer brunch menu. I love this spot.

5. Harvest on 25th

Harvest on 25th Burger

This is one of the most overlooked cheeseburgers in Waco! The beautiful restaurant Harvest on 25th highlights fresh, seasonal food, and it’s one of the best brunch spots in Waco. But their burger is PHENOMENAL and this is also a great place to stop by for lunch!

It’s made with 44 Farms beef, which we all here in Texas know is amazing. They top it with local butter lettuce, tomato, house made pickles, and sliced red onion. And this burger was already one of the best in Waco, but it gets about 10 extra points JUST BECAUSE THE SWEET POTATO FRIES ARE AWESOME. I’m telling you - order this burger for the sweet potato fries alone and you won’t be disappointed!
