10 Best Hotels In Waco
Staying overnight in Waco? There are a handful of cool hotels here! While it doesn’t have the deep pockets of Riverwalk hotels with views in San Antonio, or amazing staycation hotels in Austin, Waco is actually holding its own with several cool hotels that have been opening recently.
A great hotel is a make-or-break-it component to a trip, in my opinion. A cool, trendy hotel or a luxurious overnight stay? One of the best ways to experience a city, recharge, and enjoy all 24 hours of your trip! A lackluster hotel without any bells and whistles just doesn’t cut it. So I’m thrilled to be sharing these 10 best hotels in Waco so you can hopefully find your new favorite overnight stay!

1. Hotel Herringbone

Easily my top pick for the best hotel in Waco, Hotel Herringbone is a cool boutique hotel in downtown Waco. It’s primarily made of shipping containers, so it has a cool “jenga” look to it. The boutique rooms are art deco-inspired, with the coolest wallpaper, light fixtures, and bathroom tiles. (It’s those little things that make a big difference when you’re looking for a great hotel!
There are a few fantastic places to eat at Hotel Herringbone, like the fine dining restaurant Red Herring, an adorable courtyard wine bar, and a rooftop bar and restaurant overlooking the Magnolia Silos.

The only downside to this Waco hotel? It’s pretty small, so you won’t get the “BIG” chain hotel feel of a massive lobby, online check-in, etc. For example: when I stayed overnight here, there was no one in the small entry lobby when I arrived, and I had to call a number on the check-in stand and wait for the staff member to arrive a minute later. Not a big deal, but worth mentioning that it’s a slightly different, more “small/local” hotel feel.

2. Pivovar Hotel, Restaurant and Brewery

Pivovar easily sits near the top of this list of the best hotels in Waco not just for its high quality and amazing location (it’s literally across the street from Magnolia Market!), but also because it’s one of the most unique hotels in all of Texas.

Pivovar is an authentic Czech brewery and restaurant, serving crisp Czech lager through authentic site-pour “luke” taps and yummy eastern-European cuisine. And you can actually book a room in the hotel over the brewery! They have boutique rooms (singles and doubles) that overlook the Magnolia Silos.
One of the coolest parts about this hotel? The “beer spa” where you can take a bath in a copper tub with hot water and brewers yeast while you sip a delicious pint of Pivovar beer.

3. Hilton Downtown Waco

The Hilton in downtown Waco is a little bit old, but it was renovated recently so it has a modern feel to it. This is the most upscale, corporate-feeling hotel in Waco. If you’re looking for a nice stay for a corporate trip, the Hilton is it.

The Hilton was built before Magnolia Market existed, so it’s not near the silos…it’s actually right next to the Brazos river, which means you can easily wake up in the morning and walk from the hotel to the Waco riverwalk for a few miles of exercise, which is nice.
The restaurant at the Hilton isn’t going to land on any “best of” lists on this blog, but it’s serviceable if you need a quick bite or some room service.

4. Hotel 1928

Chip and Joanna Gaines’s boutique hotel in downtown Waco has quickly become one of the hottest stays in town. It’s also one of the priciest! But you can book a room in this historic inn which was thoughtfully and meticulously renovated by Chip and Jo themselves.

While it doesn’t have a pool, Hotel 1928 has a gorgeous sunken library (reserved for hotel guests only), a coffee bar in the lobby, a ground-floor eatery, and a rooftop bar and restaurant with some of the best views in all of Waco.
Psst: if you’re going to splurge on this hotel, be sure to watch Fixer Upper: The Hotel before you stay! You can watch the entire renovation process of this 100-year-old building, which makes seeing it in real life even more meaningful.

5. Aloft

Great prices, outdoor pool, craft beer bar, excellent gym, and boutique amenities? All yes! The Aloft is a chain hotel, but it has a "boutique" feel with Dry Bar shower toiletries, a really cool bar in the lobby with local craft beer, and one of the best hotel pools in Waco. Here’s my personal review of the Aloft Waco Downtown.

6. Mohawk Valley Inn

Mohawk Valley Inn is a gem! It’s located at Homestead Heritage, an agrarian- and craft-based Christian community just north of Waco. The inn on the property is available to book as individual rooms or a full buy-out. While you’re there, you’ll be able to eat at Café Homestead, get coffee at Heritage Coffee, and enjoy shopping at the many shops where they sell their handmade goods.

7. Cambria Hotel Waco University Riverfront

This is the best hotel in Waco if you’re going to a Baylor football game! Cambria Hotel is a 3-star modern hotel in Waco. It’s VERY similar to Aloft and Hotel Indigo…they’re all these 4-5 story white rectangular buildings with a modern feel and comparable prices and amenities.
But the Cambria is just a bit different because it’s located on the north side of the river, so you have easy access to some things like the Waco Farmers Market on Saturday mornings, Brother ell brewing, Revival Eastside Eatery, and a quick 15 minute walk to McLane Stadium where you can cheer on the Baylor Bears.

8. AC Waco Hotel by Marriott

The AC Waco is one of the biggest new hotels in downtown Waco at a whopping 182 guest rooms. It's big and shiny and modern, and if you’re looking for a Waco hotel that can accommodate a group, this is it. The AC Waco has Bear Dens available for rent, which sleep up to 8 guests.
And since this hotel is walking distance to the Silos, it might be a good option for your Waco bachelorette party or girls weekend trip to Waco because everyone can split the cost of one giant room.

9. Home2 Suites by Hilton

Staying in Waco for a while? Home2Suites by Hilton is a fantastic option. These suites are BIG, and they have kitchenettes so you can really make yourself comfortable for a long stay. This Waco hotel has an awesome outdoor pool, a gym, and it’s a nice alternative to an Airbnb because you can enjoy daily housekeeping service during your long stay.

10. Hotel Indigo

If you’re looking for a hotel close to Foster Pavilion to see a Baylor Bears basketball game, book Hotel Indigo. It’s really in an excellent location.
As far as interesting hotels go, Hotel Indigo is a totally “fine” hotel. Ha…how’s that for a glowing review? But really, it’s fine but not exceptional! If you just need a nice place to stay that’s walking distance to the Silos, this is it. There’s an indoor/outdoor pool, a bar and grill in the lobby, and free on-site parking.
